weekend of greats!

normally, being the old married woman i am, i have some of the most boring weekends consisting of cleaning and being lazy with my husband. but, this weekend was full of excitement!

first of all, one of my best friends from my hometown came to texas to visit family and made a pit-stop to see me! it was SO much fun to catch up and reminise about the old times. although, it did give me a revelation as to my addiction to diet soda (yes, i am VERY addicted to diet soda!). i have been drinking it since middle school! i had totally forgotten this. when i was in 6th or 7th grade, my mom took all the regular sodas out of our house and replaced it with diet. i was always a sprite drinker, so i was super sad to see it go. but, after a while, i adjusted to the taste of diet soda, and now i am a total addict! i will write a blog later about that. :) but, like all children with addictions, i will blame my mother!

saturday night, i went bowling with the worship team at church. i haven't bowled since my days at UCA, but i haven't gained any more skill with age. i even think some of the little kids were beating me! i was never very into learning all of that. i would rather shop.

sunday, our church had a prayer service at our new building. before the walls were put up, we all wrote scriptures on the frames. sunday night we wrote scriptures on the floor before the carpet was laid. i only wrote two scriptures for myself and michael (who was at work). they are for our future children. i wrote one for a girl and one for a boy. my children will be dedicated in that building. my children will run through the halls of that building. so my intention was to write them a verse so that they knew that before they were even born and while they were just a prayer, they're name was underneath that carpet on the foundation of the building. it was something special michael and i wanted to do. :)

well, that was my weekend. a lot of exciting things for me. i am going to do some more working out this week. i fell off the wagon with calorie counting, but i am just going to jump back on it this week!

what i'm loving wednesday!

awww...this has been such a fast week!!!! i can't believe it is already wednesday! okay, well, here is what i have been loving this week:

this is such an amazing read! i will not lie and say that i generally like to watch the movie rather than read the book, but since working at the library, i've found that opposite on some books. it was a very slow start but after chapter 7 it had you crying, laughing, and laughing so hard you were crying. set in 1960s mississippi, it is very controversial. "the help" also discusses the issue of miscarriage, which you don't see often in books. very good read! i recommend. :)

okay, so if you are a child of the 80s and early 90s, you remember the days of watching the smurfs on saturday morning. i used to love the smurfs, and while i loved the idea of them coming back to a new generation, i didn't really think i would like the movie. however, i thought it was really cute! i went with a friend and her two children. one giggled the whole movie. i think it's a great movie for the whole family.

pretty little liars!!! this is my can't miss on tuesday nights. i have been watching this show from the first season, read all the books, and i can't wait to see the summer finale! it's gonna be good! :)

and finally...

i am LOVING that it that this little angel had her 1st birthday last week! :) pictures are totally confiscated from her mom and dad, but i live 8 hours away, so there. :) this is my beautiful adopted niece, and everyone can see how much a little diva she is gonna be when she gets older. :) happy birthday!

well, that's all i have for today. if you guys want to talk about what you're loving, link up with Jamie!

tuesday stats! :)

okay, so i have to say that i am SUPER proud of myself for last week. kudos to me. :) but, i also have to say that whatever i did last week probably unraveled over the weekend.

saturday, i had some super good-for-you sushi. i LOVE sushi, and thank goodness that texas loves it too. you can even buy it at the supermarket! market place makes some of their sushi with the healthier alternative of brown rice, so i wasn't consuming so much bad carbs...;) sunday, we ate out with some friends and church family at the feedlot, which is at it sounds...VERY BAD! :) but i managed to get grilled chicken. it may not have helped that i topped it with cheese. i have a thing for cheese and chicken. i think it developed from my days as a waitress at colton's. & monday, i was super bad. i went to have lunch with a friend at chili's. i splurged on spinich and artichoke dip. YUM. then, later that night, i ate movie popcorn and drank a frozen coke. granted that i didn't eat anything but that, i still felt bad. :) but, every day is a new day for a new beginning. so, here i am back on tuesday ready to conquer the rest of the week.

here are my stats for this week. i usually post these on monday, but if you had been around yesterday, you would understand why i didn't post them. :)

weight: 178 (2 lb weight loss!)
i walked: 2 miles on the treadmill in 30 min!
zumba: 15 min (still.)

what i'm loving wednesday!

yay! i am so excited to link up to this great thing. i have been wanting to do it for a while but i have a terrible time finding time for blogging. but, alas, here i am ready to take the blogging world by storm once again. okay, so here are some things i am currently LOVING!

  • i am LOVING laughing cow cheese wedges!

these are so good and easy on the calories for great snacking! i am a bad snacker, so when i heard about these it made my day! they are little on the pricey side, but it is the one food item i can get my frugal husband to splurge on for me.

  • i am LOVING (actually OBSESSED with) pinterest! so many good ideas. i love how it has brought out the craftiness in me!

  • i am LOVING taralynn from undressed skeleton! what an inspirational story of a girl who lost over a hundred pounds. now, she is a little too thin, but her concept is great. so don't be turned off from visiting her site because of the name! it is 100% healthy to eat this way!
and of course i am loving these guys as usual. :)

if you like "what i am loving wednesday," you should link up with Jamie and do it too! :)

monday stats. :)

happy monday everybody! i hope everyone had as great of a weekend as i had.

so, i weighed myself last friday and i weigh a whopping 180. ick. not anywhere near what i wanted to be by this point. actually, i gained five pounds. GROSS! so, i decided to kick things up a notch, continue educating myself, and so forth. it takes 9 months to have a baby, and i'm for sure it's gonna take me 9 months to plan to have a baby. :)

i'm starting out by exercising every morning at 6 am. last week was the intentional week that i had planned on beginning, but it was such an odd week that i only ended up being able to work out on friday evening. i did however invest in some good products to eat, so we will see how good that turns out.

so, here are some stats to see where i am currently at:

weight: 180 on august 5, 2011
goal weight: 160 by october 10, 2011

i can...
walk a mile in: 20 min
do zumba for: 15 min
drink: 1 glass of water (the goal is to make that more and drink less diet soda)

did you know?!?!?
that drinking caffine cuts off circulation in the blood stream. which means for women who are trying to conceive it cuts off ciruclation to your uterus which makes it more difficult to get pregnant.
what i've learned about children so far:
i've become very skilled at the "mom voice" from my everyday dealings with children. the calmer and more serious your voice sounds, the better. children will respond better to this type of voice rather than yelling.
